Choice Chat: The Adoption Pregnancy

There are three trimesters in an international adoption pregnancy. The first trimester is the paper chase, up until your dossier is logged in (which usually lasts 3-6 months). The second trimester is the time you are waiting for your referral (for the first of my girls, this lasted seven months and 1 day for me, and can be shorter or longer). The third trimester is waiting to travel to pick up your baby, or waiting for your baby to travel to you (this took 2.5 months for me). Each trimester is distinctly different than the others, but I think parallels a physical pregnancy, with the exception that they don't automatically last three months each.

The emotions and fears are different in each phase.
